Mabey Bridge speaks at Bridges Scotland 2021 Conference

Mabey Bridge, an Acrow Group company specialising in modular steel bridging, is delighted to feature as a presenter at the Bridges Scotland Conference & Exposition being held in Glasgow from December 1-2, 2021.  Gold sponsor of the event, Mabey Bridge is also exhibiting on stand C40 and is showcasing its recent long-span project to design and supply a 99-metre clear-span modular Delta™ bridge linking the islands of Great Bernera and Lewis in the Western Isles of Scotland.

Nick Iannetta, Mabey Bridge’s Head of Engineering, co-presented with Angus McDonald-Gillies, Lead Bridges Engineer for Western Isles Council. Titled “Long-Span Bridges in Extremis: Pushing the boundaries of modular bridging,” the session profiled the Great Bernera project and explored the engineering challenges unique to remote locations, illustrating how modular steel structures can mitigate project risk and maximise project efficiency.

The only event dedicated to the Scottish road and bridge sectors, Bridges Scotland returns to an in-person format after a successful virtual event in 2020. Co-located with Road Expo Scotland, the event features seminars covering current and future bridge projects in Scotland as well as new products, concepts and services covering bridge design, maintenance and construction.
