Introducing the digital modular bridge

Digital Engineering

Digital engineering is transforming 21st century construction and infrastructure. It is challenging the way in which assets are specified and designed, how they are manufactured and installed, and how they are monitored and maintained. It is also empowering engineers to make smarter choices about the infrastructure solutions they procure, and the way in which they manage them.

We see this daily at Mabey Bridge; our customers are actively calling upon our digital engineering expertise to inform every aspect of their procurement, to help them reduce risk, speed up project delivery and reduce overall project costs; in many of our key markets, the demand for digital collaboration is driving procurement. The age of the digital bridge is most definitely here.

So how are we responding?

Defining bridges digitally

Our 3D bridge configurator allows a customer to generate an instant, bespoke, visual interpretation of their exact requirement. It gives them the ability to experiment with different bridging options, spans, loadings and accessories, and provides them with an instant quote for budgeting purposes. This ensures increased product familiarity and confidence at an early stage, enables quicker collation of product information, on a mouse-click, and promotes more efficient product specification and procurement planning.

Designing bridges digitally

Our customers are asking us to collaborate with them digitally to enable them to engage with their bridge early on in the specification process, more so now than ever before. We respond by helping them experience their bridges digitally, first-hand, using virtual and augmented reality. This provides an instant, visual interpretation of their proposed bridging solution; customers can walk across it, inspect it, look underneath it and experience it in-situ, all before purchase.

Installing bridges digitally

Our digital engineering expertise is also helping our customers to plan for a trouble-free installation. It helps us accurately represent our bridges in their proposed environment (in a BIM environment if required), providing customers with an unprecedented understanding of how an asset will look in-situ before installation. This facilitates collaboration and information-sharing on topics such as logistics and installation pre-build. It also helps address any safety aspects before any work starts on the ground.

From design through to installation, and beyond, digital engineering is transforming how we work and collaborate with our customers; they tell us that it is helping them to deliver their projects more efficiently than ever before.
