Wessex Water commissions bridge to ease traffic through Throop village

Leading bridge and engineering services specialist Mabey has installed a new bridge over the River Stour in Bournemouth on behalf of Wessex Water. The Compact 200 bridge - Mabey’s most widely used modular bridging product - will allow Wessex Water continued access to Berry Hill Sludge Treatment Centre while diverting traffic away from Throop village.

The new Mabey Compact 200 bridge, which spans 48-metres, will open for direct access to Berry Hill Sludge Treatment Centre in May.

CEO Michael Treacy of Mabey comments;

Berry Hill has grown to become one of the UK's major treatment centres, but Wessex Water and the local community has long been concerned about the impact of heavy tankers travelling through Throop village. We're product to have worked with them and contractor Lewis Civil Engineering to navigate the planning process and deliver a solution which will enhance the lives of local people.
