We're extremely proud to have been announced as a finalist at this year's National Instruments (NI) Engineering Impact Awards. We're up for the Physical Test and Measurement Award, qualifying for the global finals in May 2017.

The NI Engineering Impact Awards is a technical application contest, showcasing the most innovative projects based on NI software and hardware. It provides businesses with the chance to share their innovations with the NI community and network with NI leadership, trade press, industry leaders, and other category winners at the invitation-only awards ceremony and dinner.

Mabey’s LIVE Instrumentation team has been recognised for its works in providing a high precision monitoring and hydraulic control system for the Canning Town Flyover, whilst ensuring the Docklands Light Railway service remained unaffected by the Crossrail development beneath. Mabey implemented a system to monitor and control the structure using the CompactDAQ which provided high sampling rates and accuracy. The accuracy allowed valuable measurements to be made, as well as the integration of a high precision hydraulic system. This combination provided a unique system that enabled us to successfully complete this challenge.

Dave Holland, Engineering Director, said: “It was an amazing night with some really diverse applications of science being showcased.  We were pitted against hundreds of other entrants across a range of industries, so it’s with great delight that I congratulate everyone from Mabey who has been involved in delivering this innovative work."

Our monitoring and control division, LIVE Instrumentation, specialises in real-time monitoring solutions. The team is comprised of a unique combination of experienced engineering and installation teams, as well as specialist structural, instrumentation and software engineers. We use the latest equipment to implement integrated hydraulic control and high accuracy monitoring systems to offer cost effective and practical solutions.
