Mabey Bridge Welcomes Hon. Josaia V. Bainimarama, Prime Minister of the Republic of Fiji

Leading bridge and engineering services specialist, Mabey Bridge, was honoured to receive a visit today by the Hon. Josaia V. Bainimarama, Prime Minister of the Republic of Fiji, to its modular bridging headquarters in Lydney, Gloucestershire. The Prime Minister was accompanied by the Hon. Jone Usamate, Minister of Infrastructure and Transport and Mr. Jitoko Tikolevu, High Commissioner of the Fiji High Commission in London.

The visit was the culmination of the successful installation of more than 300 metres of Mabey bridging across Fiji in recent years, including the Nakabuta Bridge in Nadroga Province, which was opened by the Prime Minister himself in 2017. It was also the first time that a Prime Minister has ever visited the company’s robotic cell, which manufactures the Compact 200™ (C200), Mabey Bridge’s most widely used modular steel bridge.

Prime Minister Bainimarama said “Improved rural connectivity is of paramount importance in promoting economic growth and providing access to vital services in Fiji. Safe, reliable bridging, which is quick to install, is a key enabler, and my colleagues and I were delighted to visit Mabey Bridge today and to see first-hand the superior quality of Mabey Bridge’s products and manufacturing processes.”

Michael Treacy, Chief Executive of Mabey Bridge, said: “We were delighted to welcome the Honourable Prime Minister and his colleagues to Lydney today. We were able to showcase our digital engineering expertise and to illustrate how Fiji could lead the way by adopting advanced technology as a key component in successful, sustainable infrastructure development.”
